The goal of the Southwest Ohio P2 internship program is to give businesses fresh and innovative ideas about pollution prevention, save companies money through implementation of P2 solutions, give students an edge in obtaining full-time employment after graduation, and create and keep technically skilled jobs in Ohio.
In 2022, three interns were placed with host companies in Hamilton and Butler Counties:
- MadTree Brewing: Grace Silverberg from the University of Dayton helped MadTree perform waste audits, implement a reusable cup project, and evaluate energy efficiency building upgrades.
- The Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub (CRRH): Katie Dawson from the University of Dayton assisted CRRH in finding new outlets for hard to recycle materials and created signage to better educate customers about recycling.
- 80 Acres: Mark Mesisklis from the University of Cincinnati evaluated sources of manufacturing plastic waste to eliminate inefficiencies and unnecessary waste.
If your organization is interested in hosting a full-time summer intern through the Southwest Ohio P2 Program, Hamilton County R3Source will pay up to 75% of the intern’s salary. Reach out to Mary Cropenbaker for more information.
