Is your company wasting valuable material? Are your waste disposal costs putting a financial drain on your company? Do you think your operation could be more energy efficient?
The Southwest Ohio Pollution Prevention (P2) Internship Program can help find solutions to these and other challenges. Applications for host companies for the 2022 summer intern program are now being accepted.
The goal of the internship program is to give businesses fresh and innovative ideas about pollution prevention, save companies money through implementation of P2 solutions, give students an edge in obtaining full-time employment after graduation, and create and keep technically skilled jobs in Ohio.
Who is eligible to participate?
Interested companies can apply to receive an intern. Proposed projects must have a clear relationship to the Pollution Prevention/Energy Efficiency Hierarchy, described as source reduction, energy efficiency, reuse, recycling, and energy recovery. Companies applying for a summer intern must:
- Be an institution or manufacturer located in Hamilton County, Butler County, or Montgomery County, Ohio.
- Identify projects suitable for an intern and that support long-term environmental goals.
- Share project outcomes with the solid waste management district. Confidential information will not disclosed.
How much does it cost to participate?
The program is designed to allow participating companies to hire an intern at minimal cost. With the solid waste management districts paying as much as 75% of the intern’s salary, the typical cost to a company is about $2,500.
